Kicking off 2026
IDA’s first in-person meeting of the year

Get ready for 2026!
We started 2026 strong with an energizing in-person meeting that brought together members ready to take action! With over 300 members and a dedicated Steering Committee of 8, Indivisible Denver Aurora (IDA) is building momentum for the work ahead.

Understanding Our Structure
We began by exploring how Indivisible operates at three levels: the national organization, state chapters, and local groups like ours. This structure allows us to coordinate with allies across the country while staying focused on the issues that matter most to Coloradans.

Demystifying Colorado’s Voting Process
Next, we dove into Colorado’s unique election system, clarifying the differences between caucuses and primaries. Understanding how our voting process works is crucial for effective organizing and helping voters navigate their options in 2026.
A critical takeaway: if you want to participate in the Democratic caucus, you must be a registered Democrat—and the deadline to change your party registration is February 9, so act now!

Build your Passion: Breakout Groups
The heart of the meeting was our “Build Your Passion” session, where attendees broke into action-focused groups:
Writing Letters to the Editor – Amplifying our voices in local and national media
Immigration Rights – Standing up for our immigrant neighbors
Engaging Young Voters – Reaching the next generation of activists
Social Media – Expanding our digital presence and impact
Engaging Members of Congress – Holding our representatives accountable
Environment – Fighting for climate action and public lands protection
Healthcare – Advocating for accessible, affordable care for all
Flipping CD8 – Organizing to defeat MAGA Rep. Gabe Evans, who won by just 2,500 votes
Building IDA Community – Strengthening connections among our members
Each breakout group brainstormed strategies, identified opportunities, and began laying groundwork for the campaigns and actions we’ll launch this year.
Moving Forward Together
The meeting wrapped with readouts from each group, creating a shared vision of our 2026 priorities. The energy in the room was electric—our members are ready to organize, mobilize, and make a difference.
Whether you attended or missed this meeting, there’s a place for you in IDA’s work. Pick your passion and join us as we fight for democracy, justice, and progressive change in Colorado!
