From the streets of Denver
Labor Day Protest Unites a Community in Action

Labor Day Rally in Denver Highlights Grassroots Movement and Community Activism
Hundreds gathered at Civic Center Park for a powerful Denver protest in honor of Labor Day. While the holiday traditionally celebrates the achievements of American workers, this year’s event also served as a vibrant display of community activism, uniting people across causes — from labor rights to immigrant justice to resisting political extremism. The crowd reflected Denver’s diverse activist community, with union members, immigrants, families, and students all standing side by side. Their message was clear: the time for action is now — in workplaces, in neighborhoods, and in the streets.
Organized by local advocacy groups and labor allies, the Labor Day rally centered on a clear message: support workers, protect democracy, and speak out against injustice.

What Brought Denver to the Streets
Protesters used the occasion to not only uplift the importance of unions and fair labor practices, but also to push back against the continued influence of Donald Trump over the Republican Party.
Handmade signs captured the energy and urgency of the moment, with messages such as:
*[2.2em] “The people have the right to strike”
*[2.2em] “Hey GOP, it’s time to stop supporting the clown”
*[2.2em] “Silence isn’t peace — it’s permission”
The event demonstrated that this wasn’t just a celebration — it was a grassroots movement in action.
Activist Fair: Inform, Engage, Inspire
At the heart of the rally was the Activist Fair, a pop-up hub for organizations to connect with the public through information, games, and conversation.

Indivisible: Protest with a Sense of Humor
One of the most talked-about booths was from Indivisible, a collaboration between Indivisible Colorado Action Network and Indivisible Denver Action. They brought an activist twist to cornhole with a game they dubbed “Taco Hole” — where participants tossed taco-shaped beanbags into a board designed to look like they were aiming for Trump’s open mouth. It was funny, bold, and perfectly on-message: grassroots resistance with creativity and flair.
Denver Democrats
The Denver Democrats were on hand to share information about the party’s platform, events, and ways for locals to get more involved. Their presence emphasized the importance of staying politically engaged beyond just Election Day.
League of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters focused on empowering attendees through voter registration and nonpartisan election resources. Their booth stayed active throughout the day as many stopped by to check their registration status or pick up materials on upcoming ballot issues.
Messages of Resistance and Hope
This Denver protest was more than just a holiday tradition — it was a testament to the power of community activism and the strength of a grassroots movement committed to justice, equity, and accountability.
