SUMMARY:Signs of Solidarity -- In-Person Training and Canvass
DESCRIPTION:Join Signs of Solidarity Group\, a joint project of Indivisible Denver Action (IDA) and Immigrant Partnership Teams (IPT)\, for a training session on conducting Business “Know Your Rights” canvasses in our community. \nVolunteers will learn how to visit local businesses and provide essential materials that help business owners protect themselves and their employees during potential ICE encounters. The training will cover: \n\nHow to identify and designate safe spaces within a business that ICE cannot search without a judicial warrant or explicit permission\nEducating businesses about everyone’s right to remain silent\nHelping businesses appoint a knowledgeable spokesperson to interact with ICE agents\nTraining spokespeople to avoid casual conversations that could be used as pretext for detention\nDistributing printable signage and materials that demonstrate community solidarity\n\nFollowing the training\, volunteers will be equipped to conduct effective\, informed outreach to businesses throughout the Denver area\, helping build a network of protection and support for immigrant communities. \nLocation: West Colfax area (exact address will be provided to registered attendees) \nTo Register: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisibledenveraction/event/862133/?emci=bdea4f53-fbad-f011-8e61-6045bded8ba4&emdi=f8401288-0fae-f011-8e61-6045bded8ba4&ceid=1589155 \nNo prior experience necessary—just a willingness to support your community and stand in solidarity with immigrants.
