From Outrage to Action
IDA’s First Denver Protest
IDA’s First Step into Grassroots Action
On February 5, 2025, before the group was even formally known as Indivisible Denver Action (IDA), a powerful grassroots event unfolded in the heart of Denver. Approximately 100 community members turned out—50 at Senator Michael Bennet’s office and 50 at Senator John Hickenlooper’s office—to demand a bold response to the Trump Administration’s harmful policies. This remarkable turnout came despite the event being organized just days in advance—a clear reflection of the community’s deep enthusiasm and commitment.
Speaking Up—and Being Heard
At both offices, staff members engaged meaningfully with attendees, heard their concerns, and assured them they would relay these messages directly to the senators. Such direct engagement underscores why connecting with members of Congress is so vital: it’s how citizens shift policy, elevate community voices, and hold their elected officials accountable.
Grassroots Voices at the Doorstep of Power
Our inaugural event not only ignited broader Denver protests but also became a foundational moment for community activism, demonstrating the strength of our grassroots movement. It proved that even with minimal planning time, constituents can turn up in force to be heard—and that local actions can spark real momentum.
If you’re looking to take part in civic action, remember: reaching out to your representatives—whether by phone, email, or visiting their offices—is one of the most effective ways to push for change. Every call, every conversation, and every visit helps build a democracy that truly represents its people.
