Denver No Kings Rally
Grassroots Movement
No Kings Rally in Denver Shows the Power of the People
On June 14, IDA joined more than 50 activist groups to host the No Kings Rally and Activist Fair in Denver, standing alongside thousands of Coloradans — and about 5 million people worldwide — to send a clear message: Donald Trump will not be our king.

From Parade to People Power
While Trump’s much-hyped birthday military parade sputtered in spectacle, our gathering overflowed with energy, creativity, and community power. From every corner of the city, people came together to defend democracy and reject authoritarianism.

Grassroots Fun Meets Political Statement
IDA’s booth drew big crowds with our TACO-Hole game — a playful twist on cornhole where participants tossed beanbags decorated with tacos into a board featuring Trump’s face. Land a taco in his mouth, and you’d win a “Trump Did This” sticker, a small but visible way to call out the harmful effects of his actions. Even Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser joined the fun.
No Kings – Just Community
But the booth wasn’t just about games. We invited participants to add their voices to a Vision Board of what true democracy should look like, write letters to the Salvadoran Consulate, and create Hands-Off signs to raise awareness about human rights issues.
The No Kings rally was more than a protest — it was a living example of community involvement in action. Together, we showed that the strength of the United States lies in its people, not in any would-be monarch. And we’ll keep building this grassroots movement until that vision of democracy is secure.
Denver in the National Spotlight
Denver has increasingly become a focal point in the grassroots movement opposing authoritarian tactics and ICE abuses. Recent months have seen large-scale protests at courthouses, marches to the Aurora ICE facility, and rallies in support of immigrant leaders such as Jeanette Vizguerra, who was detained earlier this year. These events remind us that what happens in Denver resonates nationwide.
Why This Movement Matters
The No Kings rally wasn’t just another protest. It was a declaration that democracy belongs to the people — not to any single politician. Through art, activism, and collective action, the Denver community showed how local involvement strengthens a global fight against injustice.
This is only the beginning. The energy sparked on June 14 will continue to fuel actions across Colorado and beyond. Together, we are building a movement rooted in solidarity, creativity, and courage.
