Latest Updates on Denver Protests
July Grassroots Event Recap
Looking for the latest updates on Denver protests or how to get involved in your community? On July 19, the Indivisible Denver Action (IDA) team hosted its first-ever public monthly action meeting—a powerful example of grassroots movement organizing in action.
Held at a local library, this community event brought together passionate advocates, first-time attendees, and seasoned organizers. Discussion topics included the community impact of recent protests, Supreme Court decisions, and actionable ways to resist injustice.
We began by introducing the IDA team’s mission: to spark progressive action through mass protest, individual involvement, and organized resistance. From holding signs to holding leaders accountable, our goal is to fuel exponential growth in the local resistance network.
Stories from the Front Lines of the Movement
The evening featured a powerful Q&A with Rachel Dempsey, Associate Director at Towards Justice, who broke down the latest updates on critical Supreme Court cases. Rachel included cases affecting immigration policy, trans rights, presidential immunity, and the power of nationwide injunctions.
This candid session helped attendees know their rights at a protest, and better understand the legal terrain for those asking: Is protesting illegal?

Learning Through Action: Constitutional Bingo + Direct Advocacy
After the legal briefing, participants enjoyed a lively round of Constitutional Bingo. An educational (and prize-filled!) way to deepen our understanding of key terms and rights in the U.S. Constitution.
We closed out the evening with hands-on activism: attendees wrote postcards to Congressman Gabe Evans (CD8) to express their disapproval of his recent Budget Bill vote. This reinforced that political events aren’t just about attendance—they’re about accountability.
This event marks just the beginning. Whether you’re searching for how to organize a protest, how do I get involved in my community, or event recaps of recent actions, IDA is here to help you plug in.
Join us next month for more empowering sessions, protest planning, legal education, and community-building.
Together, we’ll keep making noise—and change.
