Showing Up for Student Voters in CD8
Every young voter counts
Grassroots Action on Campus: Voter Registration at Front Range Community College
On April 8 and April 22, 2025, Indivisible Denver Action volunteers hit the campus at Front Range Community College to do what grassroots democracy looks like up close: helping students register to vote, check their registration status, and sign up for ballot tracking.
Front Range Community College sits in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District — a competitive seat that Indivisible groups are working hard to flip. Young voters will be crucial to making that happen, and meeting them where they are is how we start.

Building Democracy, One Student at a Time: Front Range Community College Recap
Over two days, a team of about ten volunteers set up a table on campus and talked with students one on one. We helped students check their voter registration status, register if needed, and walked them through how to sign up for ballot tracking all through GoVoteColorado.com.
As in past events, we were reminded that building a culture of civic participation takes time. Some students weren’t sure if they were registered; others hadn’t thought much about upcoming elections. Those conversations matter — because awareness is where engagement begins. Colorado automatically registers many students when they get a driver’s license unless they opt out, so checking registration status is an important step many students hadn’t taken yet.
Why This Matters
Colorado’s 8th Congressional District is one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country — and flipping it in 2026 will require turning out every possible voter, including the thousands of young people who live, study, and work here. Front Range Community College is right in the heart of CD8, making events like these not just feel-good outreach but strategic investments in a winnable race.
Student voters are often overlooked and under-engaged. When we show up on campus, we’re sending a message: your vote matters, your voice matters, and there are people in your community who want to help you use both.
Takeaway
Ten volunteers. Two days. Countless conversations. Events like these remind us that small, consistent efforts build the foundation for real electoral change. Every student who registers, checks their registration, or signs up for ballot tracking is one more step toward a stronger, more representative democracy — and toward flipping CD8 in 2026.
